***Covid-19 Statement***

On Tuesday 26th May I submitted the Club’s plan for reopening the track. I am pleased to say that this has been accepted by the Council and we are good to go for practice only. However, there are strict rules that all members must adhere to. Please read the following I know it’s long but it’s important.

Craigavon Model Racing Club
Kernan, Portadown
COVID-19 Guidance for CMRC members during Step 1 of The Northern Ireland Executive Approach to Removing the Covid-19 Restrictions.
At this stage the Club is only permitted to reopen for practice, there will be no competitions held during this time.
To access the track at Kernan in this phase of the reopening, a driver must:
– Be a current, fully paid up CMRC Club member and hold a current BRCA competition licence.
– Not have been out of the country in the last 14 days
– Not have been around someone with symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 14 days
– Not be in a period of self-isolation and required to cocoon under the current Health Policy Rules.
– Not be displaying COVID-19 symptoms, high temperature, a new, continuous cough and a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. If you have any of these symptoms, we would ask you not to travel to the venue and to seek medical advice.
To try and ensure every member gets their fair share of track time and that we adhere strictly to the Covid-19 guidelines we will for the present time be running 2 sessions on a Saturday, 10:00 to 13:00 and 13:30 to 16:30. Numbers are restricted currently to a maximum of 6. To ensure we keep to this number we have a booking in system in operation. Members wishing to practice must contact the Race Director, Philip Ryans, in advance to indicate which session they want to be booked in for and also advise him if there are others accompanying you. We cannot guarantee that this will always be available but we will endeavour to accommodate you where possible. Remember, if you bring a family member with you, who is not going to use the track, this will restrict the numbers for other racers so at present you should come on your own. Exceptions are for junior members who have to be accompanied by a parent.
Basic Rules:
1. Strict social distancing at all times. Remember the 2m rule. Signs have been put up round the track as reminders.
2. When parking, leave at least a cars width between other vehicles.
3. NO sharing of tools.
4. NO working on others cars.
5. The rostrum will not be open during this phase. Please ensure you are on the bank at all times when driving. Keep your distance apart, 2 metres, this is the space between the fence posts, so use them as a guide.
6. Marshall your own car should you go off the track.
7. Do NOT overstay your allocated time. If you arrive early stay in your car till it is your time for practice.
8. Members should, ideally, bring a small bottle of hand sanitizer with them and keep it in their pocket or pit bag for use.
9. Wash or sanitize your hands frequently.
10. Please take any rubbish home with you and ensure your area is left clean when you leave.
11. When on track please close the gate behind you so that members of the public do not wander on to the track.
12. Members should ensure that they utilise toilet facilities in their own home prior to arriving at the Club as toilet facilities will not be available during this phase.
13. The track is also open during the week. We do not expect the uptake to be as high as it would be on a Saturday. However, please contact the Race Director prior to travel so we can continue to keep to a maximum of 6.
Members must adhere to these rules. There may be checks carried out by the Council to make sure we are following the rules and the Club Trustees will be carrying out Risk Assessments from time to time as well.
Above all Stay Safe and enjoy what we have at the minute.

Important news.
Following on from a meeting with ABC Council I have to advise you that as off today the track is closed for all activity including practise and racing. I know this is not the news you wanted to hear but we have to abide by the decision of the Council. I will keep you updated as and when the position changes.

****Round 3 of the Winter Championship Cancelled****

Due to adverse Weather Forecast the 3rd Round of the Winter Championship has been Cancelled…….

Winter Championship….Rounds 1 and 2…..

Round 1 of the winter series. Very cold for the few racers that braved the weather to support the event.
The mini final saw a good race between Junior driver, Matthew Leeman and not so junior, John Campbell, with Matthew taking the win.
The Fiats had a five car line up but Richard Dorman failed to make the grid with transmitter problems. The 15 minute final saw Tommy McKendry take an early lead which he managed to hold on to to take the win. Robert Dorman & Philip Ryans fought it all the way to the flag with Dorman taking 2nd from Ryans by only 1 second. Fourth went to new junior member Luke Sibbett who drove a very good 1st race with some respectable lap times.

Round 2 of the winter series. Weather was cold and damp but that didn’t stop a few guys turning up to compete in the mini & Fiat classes. In the mini class young Matthew Leeman took pole and the win ahead of Tom Patterson. There were 5 competitors in the Fiat class. Russell Armour took pole and the win ahead of Tommy McKendry 2nd & Robert Dorman 3rd. New junior driver Luke Sibbett was 4th with Philip Ryans in 5th. Next round is on 11th January 2020.
